About Rome Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport & Transfer Information
Located 26km away from the city centre, Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Airport (still frequently referred to by it's old name, Fiumicino) is Italy's largest and it's second-largest international air gateway. Opened in 1961, it now serves more than 30 million passengers per year.
Approximate transfer times to city centre:
There is an express rail service (Leonardo Express) which runs every 30 minutes and takes about 35 minutes into Termini Station.
There are also up to four Metropolitan trains per hour to Ostiense, Tiburtina and Termini rail stations, with average journey time of approx 45 minutes.
Another option is to use the bus service running between the airport and Termini Station which leaves every 2 hours from outside the terminal building.
