About Oslo Gardermoen Airport & Transfer Information
Situated 50km north of Oslo, Gardermoen Airport (in Norwegian: Oslo lufthavn, Gardermoen), originally built as a military airfield, was reopened in 1998 as a commercial airport. It is Norway’s main international airport and it home to Scandinavian Airlines and Norwegian Air Shuttle. It operates direct flights to a large number of destinations in Europe as well as destinations further afield including North America and Asia.
Good to know is that as Norway is not an EU member, it is able to sell duty-free goods to all international destinations. This has led to the airport housing the largest duty free shop in Europe!
Approximate transfer times to city centre:
The FlyToGet Express Train services operate every 10 minutes, travelling to the central rail station in an average journey time of just 20 minutes.
All regional trains on the Skien - Oslo - Lillehammer - Trondheim line also run via Oslo Airport and operate a frequent service.
