If you're thinking of taking a day trip from Dubrovnik then consider Lokrum island. Situated only around 700 metres offshore it's well worth the trip.

If you're looking for restaurants, shops and hotels then you should try somewhere else as the only building on Lokrum island is the ruins of the Benedictine monastary with its Botanical Gardens.

The only things to do on the island are explore the many coves and bathing spots and soak up the sun and swim in the deep blue ocean.
