Introduction
Essen lies in the west of Germany approximately 60km north of Bonn and Cologne. It's very well connected to the road network, being on the A40 and A52 motorways, and is also easy to reach of Duesseldorf airport. The city is also served by a great bus and tram network (S-Bahn) which connects the city to neighbouring ones. The Main Station (Hauptbahnhof) is a central meeting point for the city's S-Bahn and has great onward connections via InterCity and InterCityExpress services to the whole country.
