IntroductionThe town of Hof lies on Germany's eastern border and is the most north-eastern point of the southern state of Bavaria. Running through the town is the river Saale, whilst just 10km to the east you'll hit the Czech border.
The A72, A9 and A93 motorways all brush past the outskirts of the town, with several Bundesstrassen (main roads) leading from different points on the motorways into the town centre.
The main station in Hof (Hof Hauptbahnhof) lies on the main lines to Regensburg, Bamberg and Leipzig as well as the branch line to Bad Steben. There are currently no high speed routes stopping at the station. For international destinations, the closest airport is actually Karlovy Vary Airport in the Czech Republic (116km away); Nuremberg and Leipzig-Halle airports are 138km and 154km away respectively.
