Book hotels, B&Bs and hostels in Oslo
Your best bet is to consult the Tourist Office in the Oslo S or Vestbaneplassen 1 as regards finding suitable accommodation. There’s no doubt about it, Oslo certainly isn’t the best place for those travelling on a budget especially during high season. Any hotel you stay in would ideally be situated around the Karl Johans gate area or towards the area around the Royal Palace. The problem is that most of the less expensive hotels are in the areas to the north and east of Oslo S which are really best avoided.
The alternative is to stay in one of Oslo’s two youth hostels which offer very good, clean and efficient accommodation, but unfortunately not really in a central location. The campsites are also worth considering (though be warned some are only open in high season so check in advance) with some areas being available for tenting free of charge!
