Introduction
Ulm’s main railway station is located in the town centre, about ten minutes walking distance from the Ulmer Münster. The station is served by one of the main European train lines (Paris to Budapest via Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Munich, Vienna). There are also direct connections to many other cities such as Frankfurt and Berlin.The closest airports are Munich, Stuttgart, Friedrichshafen and Augsburg Airport. There are regular ICE or IC trains from these airports to Ulm.
Ulm’s efficient public transport system is run by a company called SWU. There are several different bus lines (including night buses on weekends) as well as a tram system, which makes it easy to get around in the city or go to the surrounding areas. Some streets in the old town are restricted to pedestrians and bicycles only, making it even easier for the rail traveller to get around on foot once there!
