Rail Guide to Zwickau

Introduction

The motor city of Zwickau is where Romantic composer Robert Schumann was born. The August Horch Museum pays homage to the former, while Robert Schumann Haus has the biggest collection of his original compositions, as well as paintings and sculpture.

Zwickau has several concert halls, however the largest is within the city hall, with a capacity for 7,000 people. From time to time there’s a big name playing; at the time of writing Bob Dylan is scheduled to perform. The art nouveau New World venue hosts classical music concerts, both inside and outdoors by the swan lake (Schwanenteich).

All types of cuisine are catered for among the 200+ restaurants in town, and if you don’t want to go to bed early you can head to one of the local nightclubs.
