About the Interrail Pass Zone B
Sweden
Sweden stretches more than 2,000km down the north-south axis of the world providing tourists with all-year variety of weather, natural scenery and local culture. The north of Sweden enjoys twenty-four hours of daylight during the summer months, whilst the central area includes the world heritage site of Hoega Kusten with stunning mountainous scenery and a collection of over seventy-five small islands. The south by contrast, has some of the best beach resorts on offer in Europe.
The whole of Sweden can be explored with an Interrail Pass and it is certainly a country to be seen in its entirety because of the great regional variation and experiences available.
Norway
Even if Norway were completely devoid of life, it would still be worth using your Interrail Pass to its fullest potential here as the train routes are undoubtedly some of the most stunning around. The clusters of fjords, and backdrop of mountains and glaciers create a magical and mystic feel to the Norwegian countryside.
Visit some of the many, sleepy fishing villages to sample a taste of what it must have been like years ago. The most adventurous amongst you may wish to use your Interrail Pass in the far north of the country. Try the Northern Line between Trondheim and Bodo; one of the few rail routes in the world to cross the artic circle. The northern area surrounding the Svalbard archipelago is home to few human inhabitants and is instead populated by polar bears, seals and the odd walrus!
Finland
Finland has an area 1,100km long and 550km wide to explore. Of this area, 10% is covered by water and almost 70% by forest, which already gives away much about what this spectacular country has to offer.
Helsinki was built on a peninsula and is now characterized by its close links to the sea. The capital lies on the south coast and is home to 900,000 of Finland’s 5 million inhabitants. Though it is rich in cultural offerings, Helsinki is not Finland’s most exciting destination. Beyond the capital, be prepared to have your breath taken away by the beauty of the scenery. Try skiing across some of Finland’s vast frozen lakes, or use your Interrail pass to take you into the sparsely populated areas surrounding Tomio or Kolari for a flavour of real ruggedness.
