The Bath International Music Fest encompasses jazz, world music classical, folk and err, bagpipe bands, in fact you will find everything here from traditional Ceilidhs to opera to chamber music. In 2006 electronic music was added to the bill for the first time courtesy of Brian Eno, and there are workshops to take part in too. The festival has been going since 1948 and has seen renowned international stars like Paco Peña Company, Ute Lemper and Sowetto Kinch Quartet. The concerts take place at some rather magnificent venues, like the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey and the Chapel Arts Centre, ensuring that the backdrops adds further excitement to the music. Most events are ticketed, but there are free performances too.
