This annual festival has a competition that attracts over 40 balloon teams from all over the world.

Whether you’re an avid hot air balloon enthusiast or just like watching colourful balloons going up in the sky, this quirky festival offers some fantastic views, particularly from the Salzburger Sportwelt resort. This annual festival has a competition that attracts over 40 balloon teams from all over the world, each avidly competing for BP-sponsored trophy. Additionally there is a kids day and the spectacular Night of the Balloons, when hundreds of balloons are released from 6 pm onwards with an accompaniment of live music, fireworks and food. In fact, this devotion to ballooning has made the town of Filzmoos, situated just south of Salzburg, the hot air balloon capital of the world. Now there’s a bit of dinner party trivia for you. All events are free.
