There are several jazz festivals in Rome, but this is one of the biggest. Taking place over nearly three weeks in November, internationally renowned artists and up and coming Italian talent perform (from Macy Gray to Italia trombone player Mauro Ottolini Sousafonix), with one performance per night. Each year there is a different theme, whether it’s historical, social or cultural and an exhibition is curated to accompany the festival. The Rome Jazz Festival has been running for 35 years, and has become an important date in the calendar for jazz lovers throughout Italy. Some concerts cost as little as €5, but it’s best to book in advance.
