300,000 children greet Saint Nicholas on his way through the streets of Amsterdam

The Christmas show or show of the presiding Sint Nicholaas (who is the main Christmas character in the Netherlands rather than Father Christmas), takes place in mid-November each year. A procession with Saint Nicholas makes its way through the city streets to St Nicolaas Kerk (Amsterdam's main Roman Catholic Church). An estimated 300,000 children greet Saint Nicholas on his way through the streets of Amsterdam each year.
