About the station
Hannover's main station (Hauptbahnhof) is a major regional rail hub serving ICE destinations across the country and beyond. In addition to these service, many local and S-Bahn (Tram) services also operate from here.There is a tourist information centre outside the station, although if you're feeling confident just bypass this and head directly into the centre which is just a few hundred metres beyond. The old town, Basilika St. Clemens and the new town hall are all within easy walking distance.
If you fancy visiting the famous Herrenhausen Museum in the north, you may want to take the S-Bahn to save your legs! Take the S2, S4 or S5 to Hannover-Nordstadt, from where the museum is about a 15 minute walk.
Those coming to Hannover for one of the city's famous trade shows or exhibitions needs to take the southbound S4 or S8 from the main station to Hannover Messe/Laatzen S-Bahn station which serves the exhibition halls.
