About the station
Recently rennovated, Mainz's main station is clean, orderly and well-built. High speed ICE and other express trains linking northern Germany with Switzerland,Italy and southern France stop at Mainz, and trains from all parts of Germany and eastern Europe connect there.From the main station a well as the myriad of overland rail services, you can catch one of the S-bahn (tram services) which serve local town and commuter destinations including the S8 which runs along the route Wiesbaden main station – Mainz main station – Rüsselsheim –Frankfurt Main station – Hanau main station.
On arrival at the main station, you'll find yourself on the north-western fringe of the city centre with the river Rhein, the city's Dom (cathedral) and the Gutenberg Museum each lying approximately 0.5km away.
