About the station
Münster Hauptbahnhof (Main Station) was badly bombed during the second world war such that it had to be rebuilt in its entirety in 1945. As such, the station building isn't one of Germany's finest. Services have also been cut back in recent years especially since the end of compulsory military service which has had a significant effect on passenger numbers, but there remains a daily direct ICE connection linking Münster to Hamburg and München. Alongside this high speed connection, there are still many InterCity services to destinations across the country including Luxembourg, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. Regional trains connect Münster with a comprehensive network of local destinations.Outside the station there is also a bus stop with frequent local services.
