Kiruna Snow Festival

Europe's largest celebration of snow!
http://www.snofestivalen.com
Since 1986 this has become Europe's largest festival dedicated to the celebration of snow! The festivities take place annually over six days in late January, beneath the glorious and awesome umbrella of the Northern Lights 140km above Lapland's arctic circle.

Organised in central Kiruna by the music organisation Tusen Toner, the main focus of the festival is the Kiruna International Snow Sculpture Competition, which attracts artist from all over the world. Other activities include star-gazing and dog-sleighing amongst many others. Though the snow festival has enough activities and warming drinks to keep your temperatures up, do still make sure you arrive well-prepared; temperatures can drop to -25 degrees centigrade!
