Introduction
Situated 15km southwest of Tampere near Pirkkala, Tampere’s airport offers direct flight connections with Stockholm, Copenhagen, Riga, London, Dublin, Frankfurt, Bremen and Milan. There are two terminal buildings: Terminal 1 for most domestic, international and charter flights and the Terminal 2 for budget flights (Tampere is Ryanair's Finland hub) to Riga, London-Stansted, Frankfurt - Hahn, Milan, Dublin and Bremen.To get to the city centre from the airport, use the number 61 bus service which operates between Terminal 2 and Tampere centre. The journey takes about 40 minutes. There also is a bus service provided by Ryanair to Tampere which is a little quicker (30 min) and another service to Helsinki which takes 2.5 hours. If you take a taxi, it takes about 20 minutes to get to the city centre.
If arriving by train, there are regular services from Tampere to and from Helsinki, Turku, Lapland, Jyväskylä and Pori. Tampere’s train station is located right in the city center at the end of the main street Hämeenkatu.
