Edinburgh International Festival

Take part in the largest arts festival in the world as it makes its annual appearance across the city

Edinburgh has become the established home of the world's largest arts festival with thousands attending the dozens of events that take place in the last three weeks of August every year. The official part of the festival relates to the classical music, opera performances and theatre productions that are showcased there each year, but increasingly popular now is the Edinburgh Fringe Festival whereby little-known performers and complete unknowns try to attract audiences to their tiny and cheap venues in the hope of making their big-break onto the arts circuit. Comedy talent is particularly prevalent and big names have emerged from the Edinburgh Fringe.
