Introduction
Karlsruhe lies in south-western Germany very close to the French border and only approximately 50km north-west of Stuttgart. The A5 and A8 motorways serve the city well being in close proximity, as does Stuttgart's airport which lies just 75km away. This can be reached via train from Karlsruhe to Stuttgart Main Station, from where there is a direct S-Bahn (Tram) service to the airport itself. Frankfurt airport is also convenient, especially by train as there is a direct ICE service taking just 1hr.Train services from Karlsruhe are excellent with several high-speed routes running through including those to Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg and Basel. In addition there are direct train services to Paris which can be reached in just 3 hours on a TGV high-speed train.
