IntroductionPerpignan is located at the central-southern point in France near to the Spanish border and the Mediterranean Sea. It is connected with both Spain and the rest of France via the A9 (E15) motorway which runs to Barcelona and Montpellier in the north. The closest airport serving the town is Perpignan – Rivesaltes Airport located 8km outside but with a good shuttle service connecting the centre to it. This has some international flights including to London and Ireland as well as domestic connections including those to Paris. The airport is small, but well-run and with good basic facilities.
The Gare de Perpignan (Perpignan station) is the central railway stop for the town. There are excellent services from here including high-speed connections to Paris, Toulouse, Madrid and Barcelona, night services to Paris and Strasbourg amongst others, as well as standard local connections to Narbonne and Portbou.
