Introduction

With an art noveau quarter and a fine art museum which contains works by Caravaggio and post-impressionists among many others, Nancy is an important spot for art lovers. The old town is an atmospheric web of alleyways, with galleries and craft shops galore. The Musee de l’Ecole de Nancy has an eclectic selection of textiles, sculpture and glassware and ceramics; for more on the history of the region visit the Lorraine History Museum. Meanwhile the new town is where the financial centre and the shops are located, along with plenty of stylish eateries.
