Neumünster, Germany

Guide for the rail traveller

Local languageGerman
Country Germany

Neumünster is best known for horse riding, but it also boasts a beautiful forest and the Einfelder Lake. Riding tournaments and show jumping contests take place throughout the year attracting thousands of visitors, while amateur riders can content themselves with a large number of riding schools. Don’t go riding in Dosenmoor park however as it’s mostly wetland, although a walk here should be experienced if you fancy discovering the local wildlife and rare plants.

There’s a very different activity on offer at the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet, where clobber by Armani, Guess, Karl Lagerfield and Hugo Boss is sold at discount prices. Otherwise you can spend an afternoon under the stars at the Observatory, check out the animals at the zoo, or visit the Tuch + Technik museum to learn about the 2000-year-old history of textiles.
