Marseille to Rome

Start in Marseille and end up in Rome

Once you’ve gone past Marseille, you’ll pass the stunning Aubagne countryside before approaching the limestone coast of La Ciotat. Next the train goes past the naval base of Toulon before passing the vineyards, olive groves and orchards set in front of hills. The journey continues along the coast, going through Cannes and Antibes before reaching Nice.

You’ll cross the border and find yourself in Italy, travelling along the coasts of the Lingurian Sea, then through cliffs and beautiful little villages. After reaching Cecina, you’ll get a glimpse of Elba and Populonia before heading to Maremma, a former centre of the Etruscan Empire, with its vast areas of pine forests.
