The Glacier Express from Zermatt to St Moritz

Start in Zermatt and end up in St Moritz

Often referred to as the world’s slowest ‘express’ , the Glacier Express links two of Switzerland’s most famous mountain resorts in the Swiss Alps. Whilst sitting in the new and wonderfully comfortable carriages with panoramic roof windows, you can enjoy the stunning views going past 291 bridges and 91 tunnels. Freshly cooked meals are available and there is a bar should you get thirsty. The Glacier Express also features an English headphone commentary, so you can get the most of all the stunning places you’ll go past. Scenic highlights include the Oberalp Pass, the Flims Gorge with its white limestone cliffs and the beautiful little chalet villages of the Goms Valley. The Galcier Express stops at stations such as Visp, Brig, Andermatt, Chur and Tiefencastel.

When to travel

During the summer months there are several Glacier Express services running throughout the day. Although for a real 'glacier' experience you should go on one of the two daily services that run in the winter.
