A guide to European Trains

The Eurostar (ES) trains in Italy provide high-speed connections to all major Italian cities and towns including Rome, Florence, Venice and Naples. The improved technology on these trains allows the rail journey between Milan and Venice to be completed in just 2 hours 45 minutes and that between Rome and Venice in 4 hours 30 minutes.


On board all trains you will also find dining facilities or a buffet carriage depending on time of day. Even for those traveling in standard class, a complimentary snack is provided in addition to these normal catering facilities. Sockets for laptop computers are available throughout the train accommodation whilst complimentary earphone plugs are also available for those wishing to make use of the at-seat audio equipment. Sit back and read the daily newspaper provided on trains which departing before 1pm.


Unfortunately there is a supplement to pay for Eurail passholders. Note also
that reservations are not included in the price of a normal rail passes and therefore these must be made and paid for separately. It is recommended that you do reserve a seat purely due to the popularity of the ES trains, particularly at peak times.



You can now get paperless tickets and reservations on the ES services by booking online rather than having to go to the station. Just make a note of the details and seat reservation before boarding as this information will be checked by the guard using the details in his/her handheld computer. There are no reservations displayed on board.
