Introduction

Boulogne-sur-Mer lies on France's northern Côte d'Opale on the English Channel approximately 35km south-west of Calais. It is connected to Calais via the A16 motorway which also links it to Paris, approximately 250km to the south of the town.

There are two train stations serving the town. Gare de Boulogne-Ville is the main station and is situated approximately 1.5km to the south of the town. Boulogne-Ville station lies on a direct line with Longueau (1hr45m) and Paris Nord (2hrs15m). Gare de Boulogne-Tintelleries is the town's second station and this is located by the university and close to the city centre, and serves largely regional stations. It is on a direct line to Calais-Fréthun station (30mins) which then has connections to many high-speed services including the Eurostar to Paris or London.
