IntroductionOn the far westerly tip of France lies the port town of Brest. It's mainly freight that is brought here rather than any passenger services, but there are still significant numbers of visitors as a result of the ships arriving at its shores. Alongside the port, the town has it's own airport too in the form of Brest Bretagne Airport lying 10km north-east of the town. From here there are scheduled services to domestic destinations as well as those to London, Dublin and Barcelona amongst other European cities.
Rail connections to stops along the Rennes (2hrs15m) to Paris-Montparnasse (4hrs30m) route are well served from Brest Station (Gare de Brest), which is the western terminus on this line. Some of the trains that serve on the route are TGV (high speed) ones, whilst the slower TER trains also operate.
