Introduction

This fishermen’s town is also a tourist resort thanks to its beach and aquatic activities. People from mainland Germany travel to Cuxhaven to scuba dive, surf, sail and play sports on the sandy beach; kite surfing is another popular pastime. Those who prefer more sedate activities can visit the spa and wave pool at the Thalasso Centre or stroll through the Maritime Museum. The symbol of Cuxhaven is the Kugelbake lighthouse, which is open to the public. And of course, don’t forget to try some of the local fish before you leave.
