Rail Guide to Fano

Introduction

Lying on the Adriatic coast in the Marche region of Italy, Fano is an ancient town, once held by Julius Caeser when it was known as Fanum Fortunae. There are clues to its long history in the physical structures of the town; the remnants of the Roman city wall for example, or the entrance arch to the city, which was built by Augustus over 2,000 years ago!

Fano's location on the coast lends itself to its position as popular tourist destination, with 10km of beautiful beaches and seafood and local wine aplenty for visitors and locals to enjoy.
