Introduction

Magdeburg lies approximately half way between Hannover and Berlin in central, eastern Germany. At the crossroads of the A2 and A14 motorways, on the Elbe river and lying on the ICE route between Koeln and Dreseden, the city isn't short of transport links, which has made it a transport hub as well as a regional industrial and trading centre.
