Introduction

Oxford, sometimes known as "The City of Dreaming Spires" is one of England's best known cities around the world. Perhaps the main reason for this is the Oxford University, one of best known and respected Universities in the world.

Oxford has been established as a town since the 9th century and is steeped in rich history, just walking around the city you can sense the history! Over the past few decades Oxford has become a centre for hi-tech industry with science parks located around the city, no doubt provided with employees by the University.

Oxford has a wealth of attractions that will keep any visitor happy whatever their interests are. You can learn more about the city's wonderful history in one of the many museums, marvel at the intricate architecture of the historic buildings, stop for refreshments at one of the numerous restaurants, bars and cafes, or you can just stroll around the city centre indulging in a bit of retail therapy.

We'd definately recommend Oxford as a day trip on your English adventure and even suggest that you book a hotel or hostel and take a few days to really explore this wonderful historic English city.
