Portsmouth, on the south coast, is England’s only island city. Its variety of historic buildings, museums and interesting historic places attract many visitors annually.

Most of the tourist attractions are related to Portsmouth’s naval history. There is a D-Day museum, the Royal Naval Museum, the HMS Victory (in the dockyard),the Mary Rose and the HMS Warrior. Despite the dominance of the city's naval heritage, there are still many other things you might like to explore whilst here including SouthseaCastle, built in 1544, the Charles Dickens Birthplace Museum, Strawberry Banke , a preserved, 400 year old immigrant community area, known as Puddle Dock or the Victorian forts on Portsdown Hill.
