Klatovy’s Mountain Bike Marathon is the biggest bike ride in the Czech Republic, but be warned, it’s not for the faint-hearted. The marathon crosses beautiful scenery, taking in the Sumava Mountains, rivers and also the Bavarian Forest, so don’t attempt it if you’re a cycling novice. Winners are awarded modest prizes, and there is a Euro 26 fee to enter the competition.

The Author Král Šumavy (King of the Bohemian Woods) takes place annually, now with 2,500 mountain bikers tackling one of the three distances; 48km, 76km and 104 km.
