Introduction
Erfurt lies in central Germany approximately 50km south-west of Leipzig and just off the A4 and A71 motorways. Leipzig-Halle airport is the closest major airport being just over an hour away.Erfurt station is very well connected to the Germany rail network with two ICE lines passing through; the Wiesbaden - Dresden line and the Duesseldorf - Dresden line (which also goes through Dortmund). There are also InterCity services to the popular holiday resorts of Binz and Stralsund to the north and plenty of regional services serving destinations directly around Erfurt.
