Heide, Germany

Rail Guide to Heide

Introduction

This sleepy town in the north of Germany is home to the largest market square in the country, and the weekly Saturday market is when many locals get together to catch up on their gossip. But Heide has other claims to fame: the family home of composer Johannes Brahms is located here, now used as an exhibition space; so is the home of poet Klaus Groth, which has been converted into a museum and has letters written to Groth from his friend Brahms.
