IntroductionMannheim lies on the river Rheine 80km south west of Frankfurt in western Germany, a journey which can by made in under 40 minutes via the direct InterCityExpress service running between the cities. Frankfurt's airport serves as the main international gateway for Mannheim and lies just 65km to the north (also accessible via direct ICE service). The country's road network is also convenient with the A6, A61 and A650 motorways all running past Mannheim, and as the second largest river port in the country, Mannheim also offers some transport via the Rheine!
The city benefits from excellent rail services, not only to nearby Frankfurt, but also to many other cities nationally and internationally via various ICE routes including Stuttgart, Basel, Paris and Hamburg. There is now also a Trans European Express route which offers a direct service from Mannheim to Moscow with a journey time of approximately 30 hours.
