There is more to Munich than beer guzzling, as this annual documentary showcase demonstrates. The event has been running since 1985, and has served as a platform for budding documentary makers from all over the world. Films are divided by section, which include education, German language, and films from developing and emerging countries. Roughly 100 films participate, showing at cinemas around the city. As well as the screenings, which are open to the public, workshops take place during the fortnight. An ideal antidote if you’re not a fan of Oktoberfest.
